In Cairo, The Islamic State group threatened to kill two Japanese hostages unless they receive $200 million in 72 hours. The Japanese prime Minister Shinzo Abe vowed to save the men, saying "Their lives are our top priority. Japanese officials declined to discuss whether they'd pay the ransom for the hostages Kenji Goto and Haruna Yukawa. Abe also states that this event is "unforgivable." The Islamic Militant accused Japan for funding the deaths of Muslims throughout the Middle East. The militant is probably referring to money Abe pledged while in Egypt to help Iraq's government and aid Syrian refugees. Details await to see if the Prime Minister holds true to his word.
I believe the Japanese government is going to save the hostages by paying the $200 million fee. Japan is an extremely wealthy country that takes care of its citizens. However, if the Japanese tries to use a different approach, e.g. military intervention, I believe they will try to bring other countries to help, which will fail, which will then result in the death of the two hostages. The Japanese will do what they think is the best option and I fully back it.
